Hiking up the 9,400-ft Mt. Baden-Powell in the Angeles National Forest, in Los Angeles County. The round-trip distance is 8 miles and the elevation gain is 2,800 feet. This was my 18th ascend of this mountain since June 2010. I am sorry to report that one of the thousand-year-old limber pine trees next to the majestic Wally Waldron Tree on the ridge below the summit has fallen over, probably due to the combined actions of snow and wind during the previous winter.
