I saw this documentary short and the other 4 nominated in it's category. While I liked this one, I hardly think it was the best. I believe it got the most votes by the Academy because it was not making an obvious political statement like the other four were, or because it involved kids. We all know how human beings can't get enough of children.

Poster Girl and Sun Come Up were much better.

I don't really have a dog in this fight, but it seems odd to me that a video about children orphaned by war would turn into a debate on the future of Israel, filled with racist rhetoric, eugenic posturing, and sectarian fears.

Also don't write ever racist comments, it is embarrassing to read on public. I know druze, bedouin, as well as ethiopian jews, who are contributing more to the army than a lot of jews (not just haredi, but also secular middle class). Also I see even some palestinians (israeli-arab) who are contributing positively to the country (of course the amount who do this is too little, but hopefully can increase).

First all, I have seen druze and bedouin who are serving much more loyally than many jews. Whether immigrant can contribute to society has a lot to do with education.

Secondly, jewish birth-rates are actually very high now and increasing every year. There is always a demographic threat relative to the palestinians. But the jewish birthrate is increasing rapidly. A possible problem is the haredi having even too many children now.

@chalitzah Not yet, we are still a tiny fragile people. We need to encourage JEWISH families to have more than 4 Jewish children or we are in big trouble. We have close to 2 million Israeli Arabs who breed like roaches, we dont need another foreign group of people with Islamic values coming from Africa. We have another 2 Million Arabs in Gaza and Judea Samaria (westbank) This is stupid, Israel needs to DEPORT every illegal alien ASAP. One small Jewish land on the planet, must you ruin that also!

We can treat them well while they're here, they can contribute, and we can also use things like working visa. Also israel has plenty of space for population increase, it's just a problem with lack of land use.

No, beyong the anti-Israel propaganda, we are actually very liberal and tolerant society. Even in military terms, any other country in the world would be far more violent than we are, considering the attacks on our citizen. We are always pretty tolerant, the middle east conflict is coming from other factors
