from the lp, "four tops second album," "love feels like fire." it seems EVERYTHING from this lp was on fire and H-D-H really were coming on strong with production duties. the four tops were coming even stronger and even the album trracks not released on 45 sounded like hits. enjoy!

  • Another number 1 The 4 Tops in1965 in my opinion.

  • @jamar22100 I think there is always a period where a musician's work or even a record company has hit its stride and everything has a pure, exciting feeling. To me, '64-'66 was that sort of time for Motown. Especially in '65, there was something very basic, but incredibly exciting about everything that came out of Motown. This song has that electricity- the later years, Motown became more incredible it's true, but this song has that pure "nuts and bolts", just-plain-good sound to it!

  • One of my favorite songs by the Tops, Larry is amazing

  • @MotownMaster MotownMaster, Oh, this song is fantastic! Lawrence certainly had the voice! Thanks for commenting!

  • Why do I cry every time I hear this?

Wow!!! That's all I can say.

  • @hahagerm It is a very beautiful song!

  • @tomovox You're very welcome !!

  • @williamg2552 it's always great when someone points out some great music that you may have otherwise missed! thanks for the tips william!

  • @tomovox I AGREE ! Lawrence should have gotten more leads !! If you wanna hear one of Lawrence's BEST tunes , click on "LOVE IS A JOY". It was from their 70's ABC album, "THE SHOW MUST GO ON" . Be sure to listen to BOTH VERSIONS , the video version, and the long album version. I believe it's Lawrence's finest moment on record !!! I also like lead on the 4 Tops hit, WE ALL GOTTA STICK TOGETHER, and his solo on ONE WOMAN MAN.

  • Just re-reading your comment, and you make a good point that sometimes those B-sides are more fun to play than the A-sides. You sometimes got some really great gems that you wonder- "why isn't THIS the A-side?" :-)
