@gumper1986 It was an automatic, im 100% positive. I have the T5 in my car and the front end flies up even with the slightest amount of boost.

That an auto Bird? If so it's not as much power as the 5 speeds (FTW). I just didn't see any nose dipping or hard launching as is typical of the T5.

Nice, Check out my 1988 T-Bird. Got mass air as well. Still in progress. Just put Nitrous in, eibach springs, bilstein shocks, custom headers/exhaust, and OF COURSE 5 LUG CONVERSION WITH COBRA RIMS/BRAKES!!! On my home page. Still got a ways to go.

@turbotuner2300 the crx is only 2 years newer than the bird... and it's got a 1.8 N/A engine, and it's fwd, rather than a 2.3 turbo with rwd. and it gets 30mpg city all day. and the crx STILL won...
idk why you have to bash on hondas, i have a crx and i love turbo coupes, i almost bought one. but it pisses me off when people bash imports for no good reason... and especially when they have to make stupid excuses for losing.

The guy in the Honda was a friend of mine...he was an amazing driver. He would brag about being able to do a 14.9 in an SOHC civic hatch with just exhaust and a cai. He did just this, w/ me in the car! I have seen a few others drive normally 16 sec cars to a 14.9 or something. I for the life of me can figure out where they find that almost 2 seconds, I drove a 2nd gen teg with that engine and it was pretty lack luster considering the weight diff vs the CRX.

This video brings back memories. I wish I had gotten to turn that car with the new tires, roller cam, exhaust. I sold this car and I kick myself every day for it. I think it did 15.1 for its best run before any real mods were done. I was in college then and could not afford anything other than the dry rotted tires that came with the car. It was hard to get a good launch. I have an 87 Merkur XR4Ti that I am working on now.

Fun car's if you can find one that has not been gutted for it's engine :(.

I like how in the beginning of the video there is a slight overlay of a Gen3 Taurus SHO emblem. I'm assuming who ever made this video also has a V8 SHO.

no 190crank hp and 240ft-lbs in 87-88 and 150hp before that (40hp came from the factory air to air top mount with functional hood scoops)
there is no such thing as a real honda

the CRX had an engine swap...the bird was pretty much stock and weighs double what the CRX weighs. I say it did pretty good all things considered. I am sure he had 3 times as much in that CRX just to run a lousy 14.9
Turbocoupes have lots of potential there are people making 400hp on a stock block with bolton's. I would like to see a CRX do that with out a FULL rebuild and engine swap.
Once again 20 year old tech with more potential that a Honda? Yea...
