i use propellerhead's "Reason" (currently version 5.0) nearly exclusively (with simple audio editors and that for samples.) and for djing stuff typically just 'traktor.'

reason lacks the bells & whistles (VST plugins) but it's very reliable and smooth... and you can achieve pretty much the same results as any other software if you put in the extra work.
