1983 Daphnis & Chloe (Peggy Fleming John Curry)

I believe this piece was originally titled TILT-A-WHIRL and done in red costumes, to reflect the magic of a famous carnival midway amusement ride. This is beautiful costuming as well, and beautiful skating!

Daphnis - a Greek mythology nymph who changed into a laurel tree to escape the pursuit of Apollo.....although there are lots of ancient stories about the adventures of a boy (Daphnis-goat herder) and a girl (Chloe-sheep herder). Basically, they fall in love but don't know it....and spend their days coming and going with each other (kind of like Sam and Dianne on Cheers).

Aside from the 1968 Olympics, I've never seen anything else by Peggy. John and Peggy were gorgeous to watch. I would be so intimated to skate with John though.... how can anyone match that line? Peggy skated beautifully though.

There is a lot of Peggy on YOUTUBE! You can catch up now with your viewing!! Yes, I'll bet John Curry was 'fussy' if nothing else.....but it's all about putting your vision on the ice......I'm sure 'your' artistry is of merit and interest as well. Maybe you should take some video of John, and then superimpose YOU skating with him.......such performances are possible these days of high technology!!! best wishes
