You store the bag in the fridge until your ready to use them. It sort of gives them a dormancy period that prevents them from drying out. Then you soak them in water for 30 min.- 1hr. sort of like reviving a blackberry or blueberry stick in a bag, lol. Soaking also makes it a bit easier to separate the tangled roots. Trimming is optional. Also, you sort of want to prevent them from making strawberries the first year by snipping off flowers. Gets them concentrating on growing stronger. The next

It's kinda funny watching this because I bought a similar package at Walmart his weekend, and my expressions were similar to yours. We'll see how it turns out.

Cut them roots down to about 5 inches and soak them in water for 30 minutes and then plant according to directions as to how high your crown should be..Do not use garden soil if your planting in hanging baskets..because of the possiblity of diseases..
I tried it with out soaking or triming last year with walmarts and never again, I got nada, Zilch..
