The Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, Germany, conducted by GMD Stefan Blunier performing the theme from Rogier van Otterloo's 'Soldaat van Oranje' ( 'Soldier of Orange'), as a token of solidarity and support towards the orchestras and culture in general in the Netherlands.
The Dutch deputy minister of culture, Halbe Zijlstra, has announced devastating cuts for the arts in the Netherlands. Among the many victims will be 4 of the current 12 professional orchestras as well as the majority of the institutions that generate and develop talent. May this worldwide venture be food for discussion and insight, thus preventing the proposed cuts, as they would be a gros attack on Dutch identity and welfare. Culture is not a luxury, it is a necessity, just as much as the air we breathe.

  • Wow, sounds incredibly agressive in this hall, with a very sharp snare drum, but what an impact it makes, along with the great stories by the two musicians at the end. It went straight into my heart. I'm incredibly moved by it. Thanks so very much, all the orchestras in Germany, for giving this support to your neighbouring country.

  • thanks guys!!!
