From KETC, LIVING ST. LOUIS Producer Anne-Marie Berger visits Lafayette Square, one of St. Louis' oldest neighborhoods that sits just south of downtown. This community surrounds Lafayette Parkā€”the oldest park west of the Mississippi. It was the richest neighborhood in St. Louis during the mid 1800s, but after a destructive tornado, many residents left, and the area fell into urban decay. Now, current residents have joined together to beautify the park once again and rehab the area's historic homes.
