A taste of the powerful stage actor Costa Kazakos as Agamemnon.

Iphigeneia at Aulis - Ifigeneia

Achilles says this mob of an army has a rather mad lust for the expedition to Troy. He does indeed use the word "eros", that powerful deity (the the Greeks had no cult for it), passionate desire that can be much more than sexual--and Euripides (in "Hippolytus" and "Bacchae" especially) shows the peril some run into ignoring the irrational, or pre-rational, passions of Eros.

  • Powerful greek movie! It was long ago that I saw such strong acting! I loved it!

    I recommend this to everyone!

Wish the greek movie industry would make historical movies of Greece!

  • i watched this whole movie. it was beautiful. i wept

  • At least this incarnation of the movie fits the play of Euripides: It comes in pieces, while the play is crippled too; malignant time has stolen her appearance from the ever living Goddess Artemis, which was due to appear in the true fashion of Euripides, who used to depict the Gods sometimes in a quite unfortunate way; and I pray that he did not receive a too heavy sentence from the judge of the dead, Minos, in the realm of Hades; but the gods put down Troy for a mere apple!

  • The animal was killed in the melle and confusion. That incident caused the anger and ire of the Goddess. Who later demanded the life of the King's Daughter, Iphigenia, in favor for better winds for their warships to sail for war. Agamemnon, executed the sacrifice himself. Years later, at his triunphal return from war, his wife Clytemnestra killed him to avenge the life of her Daughter Iphigenia.

  • Those were the holly priests encharged for the caring of the Sacred Herd of the Goddess Arthemis. King Agamemnon was a well known hunter who used to brag about it. When his starved army (which had been waiting in Aulis for the winds to pick up and continue their travel towards Troy ) demanded food, he sent his troups to steal the Sacred Herd to feed the hungry army. All animals ought to be slaughtered but one, Arthemis's Sacred Deer.

    ....

  • who are the men in the white robes?

  • Είναι μία από τις αγαπημένες μου ταινίες, ψέμματα να πω? 5/5

  • Was that even in Iphigenia?

  • The most memorable scene for me is the one in which either Agammenon persuades Odysseus (or maybe Odysseus, Achilles?) to join the enterprise? Whoever it was begins to lust .. either for adventure or blood or both.
