The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is now back online after the £6bn project was suspended for repairs over a year ago.
The European Organisation for Nuclear Research (Cern) has announced that the LHC has completed its first test at the weekend that is establishing a 'clockwise circulating beam'.
The research centre's director, Rolf Heuer, says the team still has some way to go before physics can begin, but they're well on their way now.
The 27 kilometre long LHC was designed by the organisation's scientists to explore the origins of the universe by colliding protons together at the speed of light.
When the project began in September 2008 the collider malfunctioned just nine days after circulating its first beams.
Now that repairs have been made the nuclear scientists are aiming for 'low-energy collisions'.
Certifiable hottie.
