Live performance on and about Texas Ave. in Baytown Tx. at the 21st Annual Bayshore Fine Rides Show on April 4, 2009. Mean Gene wrote this song about Texas Ave. to describe the way Texas Ave. was back in the 60's, 70's and early 80's. It was the hottest cruisin' spot around and every teenager from miles around showed up on Friday and Saturday nights just to cruise and hang out on Texas Ave. Then the Mall came to town near Interstate 10 and Texas Ave. became history. But the Rebel yells of those from Robert E. Lee and the late night excursions to Roseland Park will live forever in the memories of those of us who experienced cruisin' at it's finest and would later be best described by the movie "American Graffiti".

  • "If you believe in forever

Then life is just a one-night stand

If there's a rock and roll heaven

Well you know they've got a hell of a band"

    R.I.P. Mean Gene.......

  • I first found Mean Gene Kelton & The Die Hards about 12 years ago, when I downloaded this song by mistake. I was hooked from the very first line.

I ordered the album from the web site, which was sent to me in the UK. The customs declaration was signed by the man him self.

R.I.P. Your gift of music to this world will live on forever more.
