  • How many kilometers was this?

  • It was just under 2600 km.

  • did you get your passport stamped ?

  • No. They did check our passports, but they didn't stamp them. And we didn't waste any time asking them ;-)

  • The reason we chose San Marino over BiH was the possible hassle on the border, plus the less quality of the roads. Entering/leaving San Marino was no problem at all, and we only had to leave the motorway for a total of approx 32 km. The road from Rimini to San Marino is also quite ok.

In my opinion it is not really possible to do 17 at the moment, unless you do some extreme speeding. When the motorway between Maribor and Zagreb is finished all the way it might be possible to add BiH.

  • Yes even if you skip the San Marino and add BiH it is still 17 and Ukraine is probably to far.

What about Balkans. Makedonia, Kosovo, Albania, Srbia, maybe Montenegro, Bih, Hr., Slo. It is true roads are there probably not as in western Europe, but there is nonstop (I think) highway from Skopje to Ljubljana. Kosovo is close to that highway. BiH is very close to Beograd - Zagreb highway.

  • when we did it (only 13, mind) we started in england and finished in BiH - but got badly lost trying to find BiH, We were planning on going on to Hungary, Slovakia, Czech & Poland, which might just be possible had we not got lost. Certainly possible if we dropped BiH - but hen its still only 16.

Adding Ukraine adds 360 km, so would need to save a lot of time somewhere else.

  • Is 17 countries max posible?

Is San Marino really a good choice? Probably there is a good highway to connect north Italy with San Marino, but it still seems to far. Wouldn't be better maybe BiH which is close to Slo-Hr border and maybe Ukraine which is neighbor to Poland and Slovakia.

  • 17 is at the moment not feasible. Certain motorways need to be finished first, then 17 would be possible.

  • Congratulations - if you search for most countries in 24 hours on goolgle - then i come up 2nd and you guys come up first.

maybe we need to have another go? - and do 17?
