Sharing my concern about a deaf child being forced to wear cochlear implants all the time even if she doesn't want to. She had one on and didn't want a second one but is required to wear BOTH at all time per judge.

I want to clear up that CI is just a tool and when a child is being implanted, nothing we can do but by forcing them to wear is a big no-no.

  • i think no-one should be forced to wear it. my sister is profoundly deaf and we got offered the C.I. when she was 1 and a half and again when she was 5 and again when she was 8. we got asked again when she was 10 and my sister wanted to so we went ahead with it. i think the child should decide when the even want the surgery and definatly should decide when they wear it.

  • what does college degree have to do with this? This is not about who's smarter or who's dumber. This is about civil right. You should take the social study course and you might be smarter than you are today. it's your social, your life and your choice. We do not care what you do with your life unless you are being civil right violation by enforcement officer or judge. we will be there for you.

  • @scenexbam I am surprised you didn't really listen to what Seek was saying. He doesn't have a problem with you wearing CIs if YOU want. It is when CI is not working properly that there are problems and a parent should listen to a child and take to get fixed not blame the deaf parent! After this child got her CIs mapped better she didn't have a problem, but she still likes to have he choice when to hear or not hear. . . now THAT is the problem. No jail time for father but may loose custody now.

  • U deaf people are being overdramatic! Grown up & leave this girl alone.....Ci SUGERY is no biggie, get her implanted, leave it on for a month or more & if she do not like she can take it off. U guys are so racist towards people who are hard of hearing especially to me considering I was born deaf & got CI at age 5. I am 20 yrs & still wear Ci :) Im sorry that u are very afraid of Ci, you are missing out a lot, thats for sure! it is essential to get Ci at young age-develops better with speech.

  • @scenexbam I agree 100% about how deaf people are. It's pathetic.

  • CI is very good for me !

  • @scenexbam, it doesn't matter if Sandyabernathy is right or wrong. her point is from medical viewpoint. The entire point of this video is FORCE. I am glad that you enjoy your CI but not everyone shares your sentiment. Several doctors recommended to my mother for me to have CI. She ASKED me if I wanted ONE. I told her NO. She respected that choice. Today I'm proud that Mom offered me that choice instead of being forced. Even a year ago, my audiologist recommended for me to get CI at age 35. LAME!

  • @scenexbam It's amazing you find my thoughts so funny. I am also a nurse. And YOU CAN get an infection and if that were to happen, you can die because the auditory nerves and cochlea are close to the brain. Also, not all people's bodies accept foreighn materials. Had hypoallergenic tubes put in and the body rejected it, and puss and blood pushed the tubes out. So much for that surgery as well. Not all surgeries are for all peoples. It's fact.

  • @sandyabernathy LMFAO your wrongly mistaken. I love it when deaf people think cochlear implant are SOOO bad but really its not. I was born deaf and wore hearing aid but did not help me so I got cochlear implant THANK GOD! I still use my cochlear implant for almost 17 years now. Also Cochlear Implant cannot kill you. Shessh it would be nice for all you deaf people to get some education and english writing too.

  • Thank you SOOOOO much for putting captions! My 11 year old was implnated with one 2 months after she lost her hearing (meningitus) and I know next to nothing regarding peoples "experiences" with these. And most videos I come across are just people signing with no captions.....makes it very hard to do any research for me. :)

  • @seekgeo Yeah, the mom's attorney pulled a fast one. He filed for default, meaning he thought he was going to win. But we find out how to stop that. So then, the judge continue(postpone) trial to July 20. BUT he have modification hearing BEFORE the contempt trial!!! That's right. Last week on June 29. The father tried to argue this was wrong and postpone custody change hearing to July 20 too, but NO Judge wouldn't do that. So Mom got her way and father not get much time now with child.
