i was using lxde (arch linux x86_64) until i saw this, just now. can i ask for your rc.conf, .bashrc, .xinitrc, .Xresources, and .Xdefaults file? and maybe some of your openbox config files too? if it's alright?
-
What's the res on your monitor? Your setup looks seriously slick!
-
Jesus, this is the most awesome linux openbox that i`ve seen!
I`ll buy you a beer if you do a tutorial on "how to" openbox like yours!
-
cool song, what song is it?
-
@adam9575 Waiting for it :)
-
It's videos like these that pressure other arch users to be so cool.

@adam9575 is pypanel kind of like the gnome 2 or xfce panel? I looks like it but with transparency, so i was thinking I could probably achieve the same effect with the gnome2 or xfce panels.

Hey, Im a bit new to Arch Linux, really interested in it but currently just testing it out on a virtual client, I was just wondering how I would get your type of GUI for my arch linux?
-
Could you post links to your pypanel configuration? Also, how do you get the button layout so smooth and unlike how it is when you first install openbox?
Another question, how do you get more than one pypanel up with different content? I am told when I try to run more than one that I cannot have any more than whichever is open and it closes on me.
-
@adam9575 i'm currently switching to arch / openbox too... so if you have something put together, could you send me that too^^
-
Ok Cool, ill put something together, when im free, no problem :-).

-
Wow! That's so amazing, I like your urxvt configuration SOOOO MUCH!!!!!!! May you tell me how did you configure it that way? It' s so good and beautiful, my compliments my friend!

@adam9575 and that is gnome right not kde? am thinking of switch from win7 to linux! i mean when u instal arch n gui its done deal u can use gui normal way no need for comand line anymore except for updates?

@Jandor86
I suppose you can set it up but so you have a GUI for everything, but as far as it doing everything for you, No, Arch will not hold your hand, and the command line is a must to learn, But believe me its worth it once you learn it, linux is not difficult its just different. But if your not up for the learning curve and want to avoid a CLI as much as possible, use a distro like Ubuntu, Linux Mint, as they are meant for people that "want everything set up for them".Good Luck.

Forgot to answer you first question, Its not Gnome or Kde, they are full desktop environments, which by the sound of what you want, you would want to use.
I only use openbox window manager and pypanel. as i find desktop environments add a lot of extra bloat to the system.
