  • As I had mentioned at the end if a pitcher is not needed he would back up home. However on a ground ball to rf more than likely the second baseman may try and make a play on the ball and the first baseman is out most often out of the when they attempt to make a play it as well. Sometimes, not very often, the pitcher maybe the only option in the middle due to a particular situation however it is a coach's prerogative whether backing up or ball being cut takes priority in an odd situation.

  • Pretty good, except pitcher shouldn't be anywhere near the middle of field but most likely behind home, also it is very very important -- say you have a runner at second base single hit to right or center second baseman must must must cover first, otherwise batter can go have way to second and even if ball is cut get back to first easily.
