This is from a hike I did on 3/18/07 on Superstition Mountain up to the highest peak. A WWII fighter plane buzzed us twice. This is the second time it did. The peak is very narrow and no place to run if he hit. We could actually make out 2 people in cockpit and see they were wearing masks and a hat with earflaps.

  • Well, we obviously didn't have much time to look in. I know I saw 2 people in the cockpit. I only had time to focus on the guy sitting in the back, who appeared to have some kind of headgear on.

I've seen that plane lots of times since. it usually flies out of falcon field on sundays.

I heard from some friends who have flying experience that what they did here is prohibited. There was some acronym they used about being a minimum of 500' from people, building or land.

  • @fighter512 That was way back in 1990 so I'm sure someone else came across it since.

  • @MediaGold i hope you reported that plane wreck?

  • It's bigger than a Hellcat, so it's the other one... but I can't think of the name....

  • hey buddy i do mechanic work on that plane, and I know everyone that flies it. they don't wear masks or ear flaps at all. Also that is a WW2 fighter trainer not a fighter, they saw no combat what so ever. These plane were stationed state side and used for training people for fighter aircraft during WW2. Semper FI

  • ya jets and stuff fly really low at superstion its pretty sick

  • Awesome! I've been hiking for awhile and the most interesting thing I've ever come across was a dead body. I also saw an old plane wreck in the Superstitions. This was way cooler though.

  • wow, loved the sound of the plane :-) nice video
