George Bush says he has a record of results, not rhetoric, at the 1999 Republican presidential debate
TRANSCRIPT:
BUSH:I want to thank my friends here in Iowa. I'm honored to have your support. I appreciate all the work you're doing on my behalf. I come to your state not from Washington, but from outside — a state called Texas. I've got a record not of rhetoric, but a record of results. In my state I led our state to the two biggest tax cuts in the state's history. Our test scores for our students are up. I've got fewer people on welfare. Texas is entrepreneurial heaven.
It's a great place to take risks. My policies and my programs have been conservative with compassionate results, and that's the kind of president I'm going to be. I want to keep our economy growing by cutting the taxes. I want to be a free trade president so that Iowa farmers can sell their products all across the world. I want to strengthen and save Social Security. I want every child to be educated and not one single child be left behind in this great country.
I'm running because I want the American dream to touch every willing heart for people that work hard for it. I don't want people to feel left behind in our country as we head into the 21st century.
what an asshole of a President he turned out to be. When he talks about entrepreneurial risks----he dumped his Harken Energy stock based on inside info, a little while b4 the stock crashed. His father's wealthy friends bailed him out. Bought an interest in the Texas Rangers ballclub, largely with helpf of his father's friends, and when they built a new ballaprk, price of team rose dramatically, and thats how he received (not earned) his millions. He was a failure at age 40.
