The Divine Office goes all the way back to the early Jews. This is why Catholics still pray the Hours. I wish I could figure out HOW to navigate the books! I have the four volume set.

Note the very subtle mockery of standard quiet times. Reading the Bible and praying how terribly selfish what you really need to do is buy my book and concentrate on your own personal happiness.....

I hardly call it New Age practice when the Daily Office has been part of the Anglican Book of Common Prayer since 1549.

The Daily Office or Divine Office is what we Catholics call the Prayer of The Church. It has been done for 2000 years by Catholic Regious and Cleric people. This is a beautiful tradition that takes place 7 SEVEN times a day, as said by David.
