  • Avid = for professional cutting and professional editor.

Final Cut is very simple and use for some effect but it's not the best for the final edit.

Avid for ever for me ;)

  • @clicheFILM - When you graduate from film school, you will realise how much you don't know.

  • i think we all agree xtranormal sucks

  • fuck both of yall. its all about Windows Movie Maker!!!

  • If you have all the money to spend in the world, go for Avid, it simply has more tools. If you're on a budget and want to get an edit out quickly and efficently, use Final Cut.

  • @DeathByPwnage Ur mother should've swallowed

  • Well, I have FCP and Adobe PP and PP is MUCH better. FCP is iMovie + and should only be used to edit home video.

  • Have you ever used Sonh Vegas Pro? HAVE YOU EVER USE SONY VEGAS PRO???

  • @SenorCajones I just learned AVID (v5.5.x) this year at Columbia College Chicago. It's nice once you get the hang of it. The problem is that it kept crashing on me. On average, it happened 3-4 times a session. So far, my faith in it is skeptical. While I see the benefits, I can't trust an unstable program. My favorite is still Premiere because it is better than FCP 7, and emulates a lot of AVID's features.

  • Possibly the most important thing to an editor is trimming. The trimmer in MC is as close to perfect as you can get. You can edit with precision in any software. But with Avid you can edit with precision more quickly than with ANY other. The other softwares just don't implement this properly...not even Autodesk Smoke. Sure Smoke has all of the superficial stuff. But when I'm trimming, I want to be able to run down the time line and get done in good time to have 5 hours of sleep.
