If you want to see capitalism at work w/o those pesky liberals to frustrate the entrepreneurial zeal of practitioners just take a look at our past. Let's say the 18th or 19th centuries in Europe and the US: No age limits, no benefits, no protection for employees, no right to unionize (you could end up dead.) Mainland China is pretty close to the perfect capitalist state today: no workers' rights, no right to negotiate with employers, no environmental protections, no pollution laws!! U want this?
-
I work in a CPA firm (no, I'm not a CPA) that also deals in financial planning. You could say that I'm in the "belly of the beast!" Capitalism is dying and is taking us with it. Fewer raises, fewer health benefits (if any are offered), layoffs, fewer employers offering employee pension plans. And that was before the financial market meltdown!!! Your vision of capitalism belies your naivete! Corporatism has replaced it and controls your life in ways that most people don't know. "Lib Media?" HAH!
-
Capitalism is about making money PERIOD If you're an American CEO you might have to compete against a Chinese company that has workers that work longer hours for less money 6-7 days a week! How are you going to compete? Today you have fewer resources to use which also cost more. The Republicans (with Dem help) gave away our manufacturing base when they passed the American Jobs Recovery Act of '04. Like the name? Pretty sneaky. Jobs WERE recovered-in China & India! True capitalism at work!!!
-
What part of my posts leads you to believe I support our presence in all the foreign countries where we have military bases? Where did I say I was a willing supporter?
-
I agree, we have long sense lost a grasp of TRUE capitalism and just look at the latest Rasmussen poll, that's REALLY scary. Anyway, no that we've thoroughly gotten off the subject, would you mind telling me when Bush LIED?
-
Yes, it seems like we'd have learned from our past doesn't it? I suppose pulling out and allowing over a million people to be slaughtered was the right thing to do.(Insert eye roll here)
-
History major, you say? Re the N. Vietnamese slaughtering their kin in the South. I seem to remember something about a civil war sometime in our past. I understand that at least a few hundred people were killed. And what happened to those pesky Indians anyway? It's not as if we SLAUGHTERED them or anything like that! Americans don't do things like that. Do we? We don't go into foreign countries and use shells made of depleted uranium that ensures that the inhabitants will begin dying horribly!
-
After we were chased out of Vietnam we began to actively support the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia even though they were slaughtering 1/3 of their countrymen. The Vietnamese came in to rescue the Cambodian people from the US supported butchers. Last time I checked the Vietnamese had NO military bases in Cambodia. How many countries that we invaded have we left? We have over 700 military bases around the world. Or didn't you know that you were part of an EMPIRE? Do you want to remain a willing drone?
-
Do you NOT read my comments? Where did you get this crazy idea that capitalism is based upon liberty & freedom? Until liberals like me started initiating (after a lot of resistance from conservatives) labor laws your liberty loving capitalists were hiring 9 year olds for pennies a day to work in the mines and sweatshops. So far you're failing as a student of history. And those suffering socialists in Europe are healthier than we are and have job security that we can only envy. Brainwashed?
-
Actually Vietnam slipped into COMMUNISM and over a million South Vietnameese were slaughtered afetr our withdrawl. Capitalism is based upon liberty and freedon, while socialism has a noble concept, it restrict freedom and hinders production and progress as a sociaty. Necessity is the mother of invention. Capitalism requires people to support themselves(at least in theory) while socialism and communism pays everyone the same regardless of how productive they are.

Beazgod, who said anything about your "agenda?" Another posting, maybe?
We must exist in different realities. There isn't anything you said that I didn't easily refute. And there isn't anything that I've said that you haven't RUN AWAY FROM! I'll bet you think that, somehow, you're "winning!" I noticed that you've gone silent on the Niger docs, now that you've realized that they DO exist! You're never EVEN attempted to refute the Downing St. Memo. Do you understand their significance?
-
The capitalism you believe we practice doesn't exist anymore. It hasn't existed in over 60 years. The US is opposed to socialism? That's another joke, young Grasshopper! The Federal Govt, under both D's & R's has conducted an asset giveaway to big business for DECADES!! But they don't call it Socialism. They call them govt SUBSIDIES! What is given to the poor and needy in this country pales in comparison with what goes to big business. The capitalism of Adam Smith was replaced by Crony Capital!
-
So is Vietnam. Remember the war? Another war based on lies. Tonkin Gulf Incident? Didn't happen. Look it up. We lost 59,000 military dead and hundreds of thousands wounded both on the insidea and without. And WE got out easy!!! The Vietnamese lost over a million. We poisoned their country w/Agent Orange in order to stop communism. So what happened after we LOST? The country became another capitalist dictatorship. Why do you think that CAPITALISM is inherently GOOD? My degree is in Business.
-
You haven't the slightest clue what my "agenda" is. I'm simply trying to get YOU to think by asking questions and baiting you to make foolish and unwise statements. You have. Now you're being silly, you say our morality is controlled by economics, yet state we imposed an embargo on Cuba for human rights. One thing history has shown is differences in the methodology of different forms of governments. China is beginning, sucessfully I might add) to experiment with capitalism.
-
And you don't? If we can't control the dictator and he/they pose a threat to our vital interests as Hitler and the rest of the Axis powers did, then we will attempt to eliminate them. We condemn Cuba for its human rights violations and imposed an embargo but cozy up to the "communist" Chinese because they suit our economic interests, at least for the moment. Our morality is pretty much controlled by our economic interests. Read/see "The Corporation" book/documentary.

Don't be so intentionally obtuse. Butler was to be installed IF FDR was assassinated! Butler was the one who blew the whistle on the plot. It's been pretty much expunged from the main stream history books. You should read his exposition of our "wars of liberation" in Latin America in a short tract titled "War is a Racket!" What he was doing in Latin America was to open up the markets in the area for the private sector here. We also attempted to privatize the entire Iraqi economy. Read MadHouse.
-
I know Butler was the most decorated Marine in history at the time of his death and spoke out against the Military Industrial Complex and was involved in a controversial plot to oust FDR, but its really funny, I had no idea FDR was assassinated! Wow, one would think having a Masre's degree(almost a Doctorate) in American History, I would have heard or read about the murder of FDR. Funny, I don't recall that course I must have missed.
-
Sure if you JUST look at the mistakes. Hitler was elected by popular vote. So was Mussolini. We also removed the Taliban from power in Afghanistan, I noticed you only mentioned the ones who are congruent with your agenda.
-
Beazgod, if you're saying that it's logical to go after Afghanistan because it harbored the intellectual/strategic philosophy behind 9/11 then you cannot ignore the influence that the Saudi Wahabbists had on Bin Ladin and all his lieutenants in starting this "Holy War." If Al Queda was behind 9/11 then the Saudi's were behind Al Queda. After all, most of the Taliban's madrassahs are funded by Saudis. Bush tried to block this bit of fact. You can see the attempted coverup in a documentary.
-
The US has a very BAD track record when it comes to the number of times that we OVERTHREW legitimately elected leaders merely because their philosophy of working for their people instead of US (economic/political) interests. eg Arbenz in Guatemala (followed by junta rule), Mosaddeq in Iran (followed by the Shah, who set in motion the rise of the fundamentalism that we see today) and Allende in Chile (followed by the facist, Gen. Pinochet who killed THOUSANDS of his countrymen.) Convenience>moral
-
You can watch Condi on Youtube admitting to their existence. Or are you saying that Condi was lying? The Downing St memos quoted Bush telling the Brits that if evidence for WMD's in Iraq were scarce then he would "fix the facts to fit the policy." The 'policy' being the invasion of Iraq!!! I believe that the Nijar docs turned up around that time if my chronology is correct. The administration promised an investigation to find out who created these forgeries. Somehow, they seemed < than sincere!!
-
Good for you-a masters, huh! Your kind is rare. A conservative with analytical skills. History? How much do you know of Smedly D. Butler and John Perkins? They were separated by 60 yrs but served the same purpose: forcing other countries to do our bidding-one using military might and the other economic. Smedly played a big part in exposing the attempted coup de etat against FDR in the early thirties. The Repubs chose Butler to be their figurehead after FDR was assassinated. Big Mistake!
-
I have a masters in American History. Tolerant of tyrants? That's all in perspective. Were we tolerant of Hitler? Mussolini? King George? Khadafi? I never said the US was never wrong, but the FACTS you ignore only make your posts look thoroughly incompetent. We trained Bin Laden in a VERY limited way. WE supplied arms to Afghanistan to help them fight Soviet aggression, then we turned around and abandonded them after the Soviets withdrew. Its not about right or wrong, its about history.
-
OK, now I get it, you're one of those conspiracy theorist whackos. YOU STILLL haven't told me when Bush lied, work on that for a while and get back to me rather than promoting all this rubbish.
im sorry but not to seem like im for bush cause im actually a democrat but it does look like the video was edited to make it seem like she said sept. 11 like 5 times when really it was repeated and in total she only had 2 different expressions which means she said it twice
wazzy07 6 years ago
Actually, Wazzy, all her comments were made separately, and I used them only once. They're even in the same order she said them. I think if you watch closely, you'll see that almost every Sept 11th comment was delivered a bit differently. I probably should have put a line in the video saying that these were all separate statements -- your criticism is very valid. Thanks for watching the video and for commenting. I hope to be posting more here in the coming days.
