With all the media hype lately about Facebook security issues, you may be wondering to yourself how safe you may be with your current site settings.

Even if you are very familiar with the social site, have you set all of the optional privacy settings that are available to you?

There is a new open-source privacy scanner that you can run right within your browser. Reclaim Privacy (reclaimprivacy.org) will instantly inspect your privacy settings and tell you where you may have some concerns. Its quick. Its easy. Its worth the time to check yourself.

The scanner checks the following:
1. Did you opt-out of the Instant Personalization feature?
2. Is your personal information is at restricted to your friends?
3. Is some of your contact information is exposed to the entire Internet and should tweak contact settings?
4. Is your friends, tags, and connections information is at restricted to your friends?
5. Are your friends protected from accidentally sharing your personal information?
6. Have you blocked all known applications that could leak your personal information?

To use this nifty little app, go to the website at http://www.reclaimprivacy.org/. Look for the dark grey Scan For Privacy button and drag it with your mouse to your bookmark bar of your browser. Once bookmarked, log into your Facebook page and click on your bookmarked Scan For Privacy and let the app do its thing.
