Now in High Definition!

In the industrialized society of tomorrow, Detective Jack Darter must unlock the secret behind a mysterious robbery.

This film was created using stop-motion animation and LEGO bricks (sometimes called a "brickfilm") and is loosely styled after the detective film noir of the 1940s.

I made this movie before "Wall-E" came out, so I wasn't copying it. There are a few similarities, but "Wall-E" borrows a lot of ideas from the film "Silent Running," and that film was something of an inspiration for my movie as well.

The film is available in other formats, including a high definition version, here:

This film was my entry to the 2008 Brickfilms.com FAR Contest, it won 1st place out of 9 entries. The film also won 1st place in the FilmClick.com online film festival. Once you've seen the film, don't forget to check out the making-of article:

  • Is that alarm sound from Sly Copper 1?

  • @legokingmike No, it's an old recording of a military Klaxon alarm. They all pretty much sound the same, though, so perhaps that game used a similar sound.

  • Where did you get the Black Fedora/Indiana Jones Hat from?

  • @BrickOfSteel I made it gray with post production effects. Basically outlined it all by hand.
