Residents of Quetta lament the spate of bombings in their city with some calling for the Pakistani army to step in to stem the violence.

Full story:
Bloodied clothing lies strewn outside a snooker hall after twin explosions claimed more than 80 lives in the Pakistani city of Quetta on Thursday.

A banned Sunni group claimed responsibility for the suicide and car bomb attacks in this predominantly Shi'ite neighbourhood.

It's the worst violence against Shias here in decades, and Shi'ite leaders have called on the military to seize control of the provincial capital to protect the Muslim minority.

The army's presence is obvious in the city but one resident argues the military need to do more to protect citizens.

[Local Resident, Gul Khan]:
"I demand the Army Chief of Staff General Kayani call out his troops all over the country and put an end to this. We don't want this anymore. So many families are being destroyed."

Two other bomb attacks, one in Quetta's main market and another in the Swat valley, brought the total death toll from the day's bombings to 114.
