Looks like some kind of assasin bug. Here in eastern Pa, we have some kind of insect not commonly seen- looks almost like a mantis but much smaller and thinnner, more like a walking stick, with mantis-like front arms. I have seen them eat small insects. What is it? So far, noone has yet to identify it?

Loks like an assassin bug to me. Some species are known to drink animal blood. Looks like your friend was on the menu.

looks to me like you have an assassin bug. I used to raise the 3 types of african two-spot assassin bug. red yellow and orange two spot assassin bugs =D

What you got there is an Areomosus Tigritaneus, or a western fruit beetle. The one you show is a male, the female of this species has temporary,but limited flight and is twice the size of the male. The are fairly common in the southwest U.S. and are believe to have origionaly come from South America, Peru and Chile. Their diet consists mostly of fruit and flower petals. As far as assassin bug it is not related, but does offer a secretion that will iratate the skin and eyes

I just think that its a little lonely bug, looking for its mate. HOPE YOU LET IN GO .....SOON. iTS IS DEFINITLY SAD!
