*Best Sci Fi* - International Student Film Festival Hollywood 2011
*Audience Choice Award* - MachinimaFest '11
In a dystopian future, people turn to virtual reality to escape the barren wasteland known as "reality". Eden, the largest virtual reality network, becomes the target to a hacker known as "The Serpent." When two people die from premature log outs from Eden, the Eden Corporation hires a virtual detective named Joshua Prince to track down The Serpent and stop him.

Thanks again to my awesome team who made this film possible.

  • How is the film program at the University of Utah?

  • @Madeline4354 It depends. If you're looking to be in production, there are better schools. We don't have the budget or the backing to compete with the big film schools like AFI, UCLA, and USC. But The U's film program has a fantastic screenwriting and game design program. Their film studies classes are pretty good too. The animation program is improving but not up-to-par yet with BYU.

  • good audio work, the video seemed a bit sloppy but im sure there were some limitations

  • @Zenithteal Right you are. That's the reason why I don't want to work in machinima anymore. You don't have the control like you would with live actors or animators. But to my team's credit, compare this to some of the other machinima films made at the U and it actually looks fantastic. My team really did the best that was given to them.

  • Haha I'm at University of Utah right now in Machinima

  • Great movie, and good job using the graphical limitations to your advantage with the storyline.

    GO UTES!

  • The u's animation program is lacking behind alot of other schools however that didnt stop

You from doing a good job on this film.

    Good work.

  • It's great to see a film award going to the U of U (my alma mater) instead of BYU. Go Utes! I like the storyline -very creative symbolism and a good social commentary on our modern obsession with "escapism". I can see how much hard work you put into this. It has a few places that the sound doesn't seem consistent - not sure what's up with that. I'm sure there were a lot of limitations but overall it's very excellent work and the award is well-deserved.

  • GO UTES!

  • @darthLaric Agreed, BYU's animation even 5 years ago is lightyears ahead.

  • This is lame!!!!!!

  • @Madeline4354 Its great in terms of access to camera equipment, and it has tons of resources. But in terms of recognition, it has none.

  • Very well done. Sci-Fi + UofU kept getting my attention. Great to see the work you accomplished.

  • Looks just as well done as any of the current cut-scenes on professional video games. Unfortunately, that isn't a compliment.
