In 1942, in the forest between Novgorod and Leningrad, the 2nd Shock Army died. And odd couple appeared early one July morning in the village of Tukhovezha: A tall man in glasses wearing a plain military shirt and a frightened woman. They knocked at the door of the village elder. "I'm General Vlasov," he said, "Commander of the 2nd Shock Army" The German elder was at a loss. Part of the Soviet underground, he could have sent them to the partisans. But the General didn't know that, and what would happen now would affect thousands in the 2nd Shock Army. Inthe eyes of their countrymen, their feat would forever be tainted by betrayal.
Very good documentary, am surprised the Soviet soldiers didn't shoot their own leaders.
