Entertaining way to count from 1 to 10 in Chinese using Chinese (Taiwan) hand gestures. You'll often see these gestures used, for example, by merchants in many local markets.

  • Hello laoshi :D i always come back to this video after you showed the class. i miss Chinese so much. I don't know if you know this, but i made nationals for Japanese level 2 now, and it's all thanks to you teaching me non-simplified Chinese... i can read Japanese kanji, b/c it's the same exact thing...just pronounce in Japanese

  • @khamphoune I can't tell who you are by your YouTube name. Find me on Facebook.

  • That's wrong!! We do not count 7 and 8 like that!

  • @leftrighthands — YOU don't, but other Chinese do. China is very big! ;-)

  • Was this filmed in Louisiana ?

  • @PupuTheClown my backyard in Minnesota. My family is Chinese.

  • I love Taiwan, a lovely country and people with their own culture and language

  • 3,7,8 are different from what I learnt.

  • iat yi sa se n ro chat bat gao sub

  • Very nice video. I've linked to it from one of my "Learn Chinese Weekly" blogs. The hand gestures are those used in Taiwan. In Mainland China, the gestures for 7 and 8 are different. They also have an alternate gesture for 10.

  • 0:28 i looked at him and i was like "is he flicking me off?" but i see its his pointer finger LOL

  • I got down the numbers, but I just need to learn the drawings and abbreviations. I'm taking Chinese 1 in college and were having a test this wednesday :P

  • No that's not 7 8 and 10 in hands

  • wonderful :)

  • thats not how you do 7 and 8

  • How cute! I love to use the hand symbols, but forget I'm not in China anymore! You should see the interesting looks from others if I use #6-10. :-)
