Taken in May 2006. A small segment of the Monash University Tai Chi Club performing Cheng Man Ching Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan 37 posture form. They have only learnt it for 4 weeks but it is very good standard for only 4 weeks. Teacher is John Chow who also teaches the Kalis Ilustrisimo style of Filipino martial arts (Arnis/Eskrima).

  • 4 weeks! damn. I just finished learning the external form of the 37, and 6 years have passed since I started...

  • You and 'gungfu4u3yangtaichi' are right in a way. I only practised the 37 posture form in 1971 onwards and I am still learning! EXTERIORLY, many people can easily complete the form in a week with reasonable proficiency (as good as maybe those practising for 2 years), but to really understand the 37 form is a lifetime because it is Tai Chi Chuan you are trying to understand.

  • The CMC 37 form appears simple and over-simplified to the point of 'uselessness'. This is looking at it from an exterior point of view. It is easy to criticise. It is easy to be insincere in one's assessment of another's gongfu. It shows shallowness in one's own attainment of gongfu. Words are very cheap especially when putting down the gongfu of others.

  • If anybody wishes to criticise another's gongfu or make sarcastic remarks, they should put up their own videos on YouTube for all to criticise, and challenge all and sundry for a test of fighting skills. There are many martial arts and non-martial arts in the world, so there is no excuse that you can not challenge at least 100,000 of them. :):):)

  • all right, let me put it this way. any Chen Man Ching teachers or practitioners that u know about that happen to live in Vegas? I want to learn. thanx

  • As mentioned above:- there are many teachers of Chen Man Ching style in USA. Try the schools run by grandmasters William Chen, Ben Lo, TT Liang and Tchoung Ta Tchen. These mentioned names are genuine. They are 1st generation disciples of Cheng man Ching himself. Do not listen to derogative and sarcastic 'armchair' theoritical masters such as one who is posting on this forum right now. I perform it fast, medium and slow, and I usually standing high with very small stance.

  • NAMO AMITABHA I am not Tai Chi specialist, but I admire such performance as this, in a relaxed way with awareness and presence as we teach in Atiyoga/Dzogchen Buddhist meditations.

I hope more people will learn from so qualified Tai Chi master.
