Listen to the engine on launch - that's throttle control, boys and girls.

Is this the same "Pee Wee" Gleason that was the first to get a production bike in the 10's??? If I remember, it was the Kawasaki GPZ 750 Turbo back in 1984.

@mysticmama yea..... ive done more research since then. now since we talked last year they have one street legal thats even faster than 9.5

here busa busa busa!

I've seen someone doing 9.26 at over 150 mph on the new 2009 vmax pretty cool
-
I have a pic of Pee Wee sitting on a vmax front fender facing the back of the bike doing a one handed burn out , Priceless !!!

If you want to make a bike go fast ,give it alot of gas, if you want to see how fast the bike can absolutely go.. call PeeWee

@chowhound3 the guy that did that 25 years ago was PeeWee .. same rider in this vid.. I remember the commercial ....
-
He made 9.69 sec with the old one 25 years ago . ok there was a wheelie bar but no internal mod. ( only kerker & a jet kit )

Body weight plays a big part in this. Not just throttle control.
i was talking about tim nash. but he has a new rider this time. but he made it in the 8s of the quarter mile

The vid you speak of is Jon Cornell, of UFO Performance. This Vmax is not street legal, nor is he Tim's "new rider". Jon did his own tests on his very modified UFO Vmax. Tim edited the video, is all. I think Tim did an awesome job on the editing! Plus Tim is a huge fan of UFO Performance products for the VMax. Jon was NOT riding Tim's bike. Jon was riding his own bike and got it into the 8s. Tim's bike, Eleanor, is still the quickest & fastest street legal Vmax recorded, to date.

The X factor that often gets forgot about, the guy on the bike. Pee Wee, one of the best pilots anywhere. Then on Tim's Vmax, he's not going to loose to much.
Great runs!

Thank you! Yes, alot of people believe it's because of Jay's light body weight, but that actually works against him. He has had to develop a totally different riding style with every kind of motorcycle racing he has ever done because of his lack of weight. He has much more throttle control and reactive response than anyone.

Maybe i missed this in the video, but is the bike stock or close to it?

The bike is stock. Yes, exhaust was changed out, and I think a racing slick added. A little tuning by Gleason, and that was it!
