''Firstborn son of King Adelbern and heir to the throne of Ascalon, Prince Rurik is a brave, bold man who often takes action on the spur of the moment. He leads by example, never cowering or shirking a challenge. Some say he has no fear. Others claim his brash bravery is merely reckless. Regardless, the prince is liked by almost everyone in Ascalon, and he spends much of his time among the citizens, preferring the company of commoners to that of Ascalon's rich upper crust.

As a boy, Prince Rurik trained at the Ascalon Academy and did a stint as an officer in the army. Today, he maintains a fighting force of his own, known as the Ascalon Vanguard. These soldiers are completely independent of the king's financing and influence. Rurik's father, King Adelbern, takes a certain amount of offense to this, though he keeps it to himself and his closest advisors. Though the prince is loyal to his father, he doesn't always agree with the man's methods or ideology.''

Been meaning to do this for a while now. I think you can currently count the amount of GuildWars lets plays on two hands, and none of them are complete. I've tried to make this series appeal to people who are interested in Gw2 (which is going to kick so much ass its unreal). Watching this you should learn everything you need to know about the world and what happened before the sequel.

Also, to make it more interesting for me personally to play (i've completed the game many times) i'm testing my limits with a tough challenge: I have to solo everything. This is going to be difficult, it might not even be possible, but i'm going to give it my all!

So come along! It'll be one hell of a trip.

  • Also I forgot to add, say I complete everything in the pre-searing Ascalon. And I focus on the main story after that point. Can I move on and complete all the other campaigns with the same character and then move back to finish the secondary quests in Prophecies? I like to only have 1 character and do complete everything I can.

  • @MrPrydain

As for moving back - yes you can 100% do this. Pre searing to post searing is the only time ever when moving foward in the main plot removes access to earlier parts of the game (except a single tiny area with no quests at the start of NF). Guild wars is built around not restricting people (map travel system as an example) - so you're free to do whatever, whenever.

  • I just started watching your videos and was wondering why you were not picking up the drops from the creatures. Is it because you can not sell them for money to NPC?

  • @MrPrydain

despite the fact that the rightful heir wants no part in it. You can also learn about the prince's love life - something which has big repercussions in post-searing. But again, you don't need to know this stuff its just nice. Generally people listen to my videos like an audio book while playing alongside me - so they dont have to miss out on anything. Maybe thats something you're interested in?

  • @WoodenPotatoes Yeah, since I'm new I'm afraid of losing out on the little stories from the side quests. I guess I will have to explore Ascalon pre-searing by myself.

  • @MrPrydain

It'll be fun, though! Pre searing is the only place though, promise. I'm very comprehensive elsewhere.

The side quests are interesting, but not vital by any means. A lot of people watch my videos because they're shocked at how much more there is to learn in the side quests - but pre-searing is the one (and only!) place I skipped a lot of them. Everywhere else i'm VERY thorough. The pre side-quests are mostly uninteresting lore-wise but some give really nice hints about the royal family. You learn about the current king having usurped the throne, and royalists trying to over throw him

  • Yeah, I'm planning on picking up the game. The storyline seems very interesting, I took a peek at your latest vision about Anguish and I'm definetly buying the game. Just one question, I am starting with Prophecies if I do not complete the side quests in the pre-searing do I lose out on important parts of the lore?. If i do choose to complete everything in the pre-searing how long will it take me?

  • @MrPrydain

They're just worth very very very little early in the game - and back then there was nothing expensive I was expecting to do in the LP, so I could ignore most.

    Glad you're liking the videos!
