Congress fights back. Keith reports that after Mukasey refused to follow through on contempt charges for Miers and Bolton, the House filed a civil comtempt law suit. John Dean weighs in.
Dean is definately a conservative with whom I can have an honest and honorable difference of opinion. I heartily recommend his book "Conservatives Without Conscience" to anyone who wants to understand just how dangerous the modern Republican Party is. It's not a bomb-throwing tome, but rather a very clear eyed look at the Republican leaderships' slide into authoritarianism, using definitions and research from psychology, sociology, and finally political science. Extremely thought provoking.
Why don't they just throw Meiers and Bolton in the pokey? I hear jail does wonder towards cooperation. Or perhaps Guantanamo? I'd love to see Bush & Co. in some stress positions!
