YouTube has been beta testing Live for the past 6 months

Beta Testing was by invite only and they have been working on building the platform with the help of feedback from their beta testers.

On April the 8th YouTube announced the roll out of YouTube Live. http://youtube-global.blogspot.com/2011/04/youtube-is-going-live.html

It is still by invite only. YouTube has to contact you and offer the live feature. At this time it is only available to Partners in the US and Canada but they should be expanding it soon.

This includes copyright. I would not advise playing the radio in the background and certainly do not stream television shows like so many do on BlogTV http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=143459&hl=en-US

I would also refrain from performing coversongs. http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=82839 YouTube is very nervous regarding copyright right now on these live streams so stick to either Royalty Free music or music you wrote and performed yourself.
