  • Is there is a way to keep the fur?

  • the salt pulls out all the moisture and the fat in the hide

  • when you salt the hide it preserves it like cure in jerky is just salt pretty much

  • its like three pounds of ash to every pound of water i think i am not sure but i believe thats what it is

  • How long do you soak to loose the hair? What do you put in the water? Hardwood ash, softwood ash, potassium hydroxide, or sodium hydroxide? what ratio of ash/chemical to water?

  • he salts the hides to store them but I would suggest freezing them in a roll, they will be good forever in a freezer.

  • Is your draw knife sharp or blunt? Is it the same one for the flesh and the hair? Is the hair shaved off or plukced out by the draw knife?

I hope you can answer these questions for me.

    Sean
