Ricky Nelson was both a bona fide teen idol and a legit rockabilly cat (he was a big Carl Perkins/Sun Records fan and collector.)

He was great, because he loved the music he did.

Slightly off topic, Dorsey Burnette did the demo record for "It's Late" on Imperial Records before Ricky decided to record it. Worth a listening to if any of you get a chance.
