Stereotyping is what your statements shows. My opionion is - if you are on a subway and something offends you, move to another car or seat. getting into a fight and getting into her face and putting yourself to her level does not show that they were educated. Just because they have a very large bag for a purse does not mean they are going to school. They could've been the bigger person and not be one to swing first for no reason.

When I rode the trains (yes, many different lines for many years), I ate & drank becaus I had little time to do so when I got to work or, after working a full day, when I got home. What's the big deaL? Now, living away from NYC, I eat in my care as I drive as do millions. What's the difference between eating on a train & eating in your car. If you ride Amtrak or othe suburban commuter trains they actually sell food on the train. People need to get a life and let others live as they choose.
