  • that is what I do and I built at least a 3 month supply of food in less than 6 months. I also started buying food storage receipe books, and started cooking from storage. I make my own laundry soap and save a lot there. Now my husband doesn't have skin break out and clothes smell cleaner too. I taught my self to can, and I can meat when it is on sale too. I have saved a lot of money and have invested it in other preps.

  • @patriotusa200 LOL!!!!

  • This is such a great idea for those it should extend to anyone who may not be prepping. With the economy the way it is, getting more quality foods for less I am sure is a welcome thing to anyone.

I think clipping coupons is a manly thing, too! You are providing for your family! Proverbially, killing something and dragging it home...

  • I SHOP AT COSTCO. NO SALES.

WE ONLY HAVE VONS AND RALPHS WHICH ARE REGULAR STORES.

DO YOU BUY A NEWSPAPER FOR COUPONS THEY ARE EXPENSIVE. I TRIED COUPONS ON LINE, I PICKED OUT ABOUT 4 COUPONS, PROCEEDED TO PRINT THEM OUT AND USED UP ABOUT A 1/4 OF PRINTER INK FOR A BOUT

1.50 OFF ALL FOUR TOTAL. WHAT A JOKE. 15.00 WORTH OF INK TO GET A 1.50 OFF. NO WAY JOSE.

  • Awesome tip! I have just started with food storage and I love it! I have decided to store what we eat normally because I really can't afford the freeze dried food but I am going to buy an inexpensive dehydrator and store some fruits and veg that way. I have also learned how to cook bake bread and cook everything possible from scratch. Coupons are amazing!

  • Also whether or not your using coupons you could keep a rule of thumb "use one, buy two, use one more buy two more and you'd be surprised how easy it is to stock up

  • I would add there are coupon selling services. You can buy the inserts for much less that multiple papers, of course it will take time to receive them but it may be worth the wait. Just google coupon purchases and they will come up. Southern Savers and thekrazycouponlady are both good sites to check. They are both extremely informative.

  • thanks for the advice great ideas, will be using in my shopping habits

  • just buy mra

  • Wow, I wish I had the coupon opportunities you have. I live in a big city and we do have coupons available, but they fall short on value. That being said, I do use them any chance I get... just don't have the same economic impact on my bottom line. I do have opportunities to buy in bulk however. I purchased an energy efficient freezer almost 4 years ago and it has definitely paid for itself several fold.
