Suicide or Murder? Three Years After the Death of Pfc. LaVena Johnson in Iraq, Her Parents Continue Their Call for a Congressional Investigation

Three years ago, on July 19, 2005, Army Private First Class LaVena Johnson was found dead in Balad, Iraq. Her body was found in a tent belonging to the private military contractor KBR. She had abrasions all over her body, a broken nose, a black eye, burned hands, loose teeth, acid burns on her genitals, and a bullet hole in her head. The Army labeled Johnson's death a suicide. But her parents never believed that story. They think she was raped and murdered and are now demanding a full congressional investigation into their daughter's death.

I'm so mad right now, my heart goes out to the family. There needs to be vigilante justice here I want to help her family, tv/movies/recruits about military all is a lie this right here is the reality no justice I'm not thankful for soldiers that do things like this... This us how they serve their country? Is this where all the tax payers dollars go ? why was she killed...

her body was found in a contractor's tent. no soldier is trained to take out their own. it's what bootcamp is all about.

hearing things like this, i can well understand why my father hates wars and the military. i can't believe that the army would try and sell some bullshit story about how she killed herself when all the wounds indicate otherwise and then, their fatal mistake--saying it wa a rifle that killed her and not a hand gun which is hella more practical and easier to shoot. but saying that to her father, a vet AND a doctor? what a bunch of idiots.
