@TRAINHEAD247 Actually, there are some steam locos that still run today. People also now make miniature live steam locos. So, we're doing pretty well today. They're bringing steam locos back. :)

@irish89055 awww, little Thomas the tank engines and friends that screech.... yeah Look at the American steam engines on this site and see if you can objectively view the European as better from back in the day. I will admit the European ,Japanese passenger rail lines and engines of today are superior to anything in the US.

@irish89055 What a stupid bigoted remark. You want to get yourself a chisel to get that ugly chip off your shoulder.

@rhysicus You are a fucking AMAZING storyteller.
It is a shame that the steam locos had to go but I think it was inevitable with advances in technology there was no stoppimg it. Anyway great video quick question where did you get all those other locomotives from?

@TRAINHEAD247, Unfortunatly it was down to ecconomics, the cost of coal was going up and the cost of fuel oils, Diesel was going down, and steam locos are labour intensive and dirty, so your right it was inevetible.

correct me if i'm wrong but didn't The S&DJR railway use LMS locomotives and not GWR locomotives and they also used I think sounthern rolling stock and not midland region rolling stock

you are correct to a certain degree, but it was a big mixture of 3 regions. it mainly used LMS locos, but in BR days many collet goods 0-6-0s and panniers made thier way down the line, as far as templecoombe I expect, it was still the western region of BR until about 1956 ish when it responsibility for the track went to the southern region. as for the coaching stock, im not sure if the midland region stock made it, but it could have.
