I recently traveled to Austin to play music and see who and what I could see. I stopped in at the Broken Spoke and heard this man play saxaphone like I've never heard.. Move it on over Boots Randolf. This guy flat gets it done. I'm hoping to record with him next winter in Austin. If I do you will find the music at www.lesvaughn.com or www.lbvaughn.com
ENJOY!!! : )

Calvin is deceased. John Coates was the guitarist. He has passed also. TR

  • dEL HAS BEEN A GREAT FRIEND FOR YEARS KEEP IT ROCKIN DEL YOU ALWAYS HAVE BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE GREATEST....LUV YA!

  • Hey, is that the same Del P who played with Baltimore's "The Van Dykes" way back in the early to mid-late 60's?

Del, whatever happened to Calvin? And wasn't John Coates the bass player? Man, The Van Dykes were a hurricane of fun back when I was a kid in Baltimore! They had a regional hit called "The Stupidity!" "Hey -a- eey, Every - Body - ....All around the world.......every boy and every girl.....should take a lesson from me....doin' the Stupidity!!" Go, Del...keep on rollin' ...

  • We were hangin in a suburban Bowie MD ravine making noise with this old sax, and a guy pulls up in a nearby parking lot. He hears the sax, and hikes on down. It was Del, a salesman at the time, around 1970. Never forget the way he picked up that sax and wailed. Just one of those chance encounters, unforgettable. Thanks, Del.

  • Del is truly the best tenor sax player around & I've seen him with this great band a few times at Jovita's, Austin. Tx. I've been lucky enough to guest with them as well onstage ...... awesome !!!! Sadly, the rub-board player & the guitarist have sadly passed-away in the past couple of years, & Del only sits-in with The Cornell Hurd band a few times a year these days when he visits Austin.

  • Del - you rock!
