The undefeated Richland Rebels ran their offense to perfection Friday night at Farrington Field at the expense of Fort Worth Paschals Panthers.
Richland (7-0, 3-0) accumulated 504 total yards of offense, with 314 through the air, during its 53-3 victory in the District 3-5A game.
Senior running back Stephen Collins (14 carries, 85 yards) scored the first two touchdowns of the game to set the tone early. Collins first score came two plays after teammate sophomore Nico Ornelas intercepted a pass and returned it 53 yards to the Panthers 5.
The tailbacks second touchdown was for 3 yards and capped a 12-play drive that covered 93 yards.
Senior quarterback Tyler Cotton also contributed to the Rebels victory. Cotton completed 14 of his 18 passes for 243 yards and three touchdowns. Two of his touchdown throws came in the second quarter to put the game out of reach before halftime.
Cottons first touchdown pass was to senior wide receiver Anton Arthurs. From his 35, Cotton was hit by a linebacker as he threw to Arthurs, who then juked the lone Panthers defender between him and the end zone.
Phillip Anderson caught seven for 127 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown.
The Rebels defense also played well, giving up only 232 yards. They forced three turnovers, all interceptions.
Only 28 of those yards for the Panthers (3-5, 0-4) came through the air.
The one bright spot for the Paschal offense was another sensational effort by Emmanuel Smith, who rushed for 208 yards on 36 carries. But the rest of the Panthers combined to rush for a minus-3 yards.
