This is really so devastating. Actually yesterday we were suppose to bring home a puppy from a animal shelter. It died because it was only 2 1/2 months old, underweight and it couldn't handle being spayed. All the shot injections plus being spayed was too much for her. I wish shelters would consider gving the owner an option for the fragile ones to wait a little before going through such an ordeal. Thank you for making the public aware.

They aren't supposed to spay/neuter that young! OMG! My rescue doesn't do any dogs before 5-6 months of age. The only way its even at 5 is if the balls have completely dropped.

I really don't know the regulations here in Texas for spaying or neutering an animal. This is interesting & I might look into that. She was going to be euthanized the day after we had adopted her so we were happy we had saved a dogs life. Now we feel even more guilty because she really went through all of that because someone had finally adopted her. I also wish they would have told us she was underweight so I could have questioned the process. They didn't tell us until she had passed away.

I live in Texas too. I think it depends on the county policies or even city policies. I mean, I think you have to sign something saying that you will spay or neuter the animal but I have never heard of them doing a puppy that young. ESPECIALLY in that condition!
