This is Part 2 of the first of this three piece symphony "Concertante." This first movement (which due to length I had to cut in two) is entitled "Vivace meccanico."

Ifukube dircribed this 1941 piece as "blending Asian indigenous vitality and machine-civilization modernism." It is very lively, energetic, and bombasstic. However, much of the piece was lost during the bombings on Japan in WWII. Ifukube 'reconstructed' parts of it using movements from his post-war symphonies "Tapkaara" and "Ritmica Ostinata" (as you will hear motifs from both throughout this work). Half a century later more pieces of "Concertante" surfaced and were used to futher reconstruct the recording you will now hear.
