  • George Pal...man of few sounds and gestures, and even fewer words. LOL

  • Wonderful to see these two magnificent stars as relative youngsters, but spare a thought for the winner of this Academy Award! Tom Howard a true legend of British Special Effects who worked on over 150 films from the days of Alexander Korda to Stanley Kubrick! This was his second Oscar win, just a shame he wasn't there to collect this award himself!! If anyone is interested I have a list of all his films where he championed special effects. Many of the scenes from 2001 are thanks to him!!!

  • This was Shirley's very first Oscar appearance. She and Peter later co-starred in John Goldfarb, Please Come Home! It was Peter's 1st appearance also. He later won twice. He wasn't there for his second win. But he accepted for absent Margaret Rutherford the year before. They don't make them like that anymore.
