I have a problem,i carry this guilt for not being there in viet nam with my buddies,it's not been easy to deal with,i'm now a disabled vet,and support all vet's whereever they are! Future soldiers posting exact ship dates need to remove them. It violates OPSEC (operational security) this is a public forum and not the place for sharing exact dates.

@dgcrew May not seem like the right or should I say best answer but the Mission is always First....
-
The 2003 version of the soldiers creed is just stupid.
But this version in the video is just beatifully said.
Between "I will always place the mission first" and "I will never leave a fallen comrade", wich it is the most important? Cause in extreme situations you have to choose one.

@dgcrew The mission is always first but at the same time you have to take care of the troops. I ran into a former troop of mine last year. After the usual "how is it going" talk, he said something to me that I still remember. "MSG Volstad, you never did anything for yourself." My response was "that is what a good NCO does". You take care of your soldiers first.
The good old days. Retired back in 1998 after 26 years of service.
