How Harper Stole Democracy

Stephen Harper is spreading lies about Canadian democracy, he has also suspended democracy in Canada for 7 weeks. How? First thing first, Canadians choose their local MP, not the government. Governments in our system are produced by agreement amongst the elected MPs, in consultation with the Governor General. With 38 per cent of the popular vote, The election result was that no one party got a majority of the popular vote or a majority of the legislative seats. The coalition government involves the Liberals and NDP. The Bloc has agreed not to defeat this new government for a prescribed period of time. This is hardly different from the issue to issue agreements that the last Harper government secured with the Bloc. We have a representative system where voters elect local MPs and a government is formed out of an agreement amongst some of those MPs to work together, with the consent of the Governor General.Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear. -HARRY S. 38% was the highest vote for any party, you simply don't add up all the losing numbers and say our #'s beat  the winning party. The majority of canadians voted conservative, this is the truth deal with it. It's like a 100 meter race and 2nd and 3rd say well we equalled 5 so five is a bigger # that 1.
