This is my daughter explaining how the pencil got in the ceiling of the Louisiana State Capital. She took a tour with her class, so I guess she knows what shes taking about. I guess.

  • it turns out that is isn't a pencil, it was a piece of wood. Nobody knows how that rumor got started. it kinda looks like a pencil though... ive seen it up close

  • I've seen "the pencil". What's neat is the they used sugar cane for the designs on the ceiling

  • i went thre when i was in 2nd grade. and when they showed us that we laughed so hard

  • It is a pencil. If you google it and look at the close up pictures, you can tell it is a pencil. Take a pair of binnoculars with you and go to the Capitol Building to check it out for yourself. I bring visitors to the Capitol when they come visit and bring the binnoculars so they can see it. Quit trying to change history.

  • It's not a pencil, it's a shard of wood. The tour guides tell people it's a pencil because it sounds more interesting. :)

  • i remember a year ago when our grade went here and i heard about the pencil, i never saw it close though
