@coleandrobert - 4runner had a "2nd generation" TRD Supercharger and the supporting modifications. The exhaust wasn't anything special as I recall... maybe a high flow cat. Drawback is that you have to run premium unleaded, and the gas mileage goes down about 10%... more if you have a heavy foot. IMO, not worth it, but to each his own.

@leopardian I agree. There is no way in hell that Grand Cherokee is anything but the 3.7 V6. A 4.7 V8 would outrun that 4Runner and a 5.7 V8 WK with the 3.73 final drive would smoke it from any speed. Nothing against the 4Runner, I have a 99 Limited right now but after owning a 05 Limited with the 5.7 Hemi, I'm guessing it will cost me $10k plus just to bring the 4Runner up to the factory acceleration of my Hemi WK.

This is weeksauce. Race my Lifted 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9. Wouldn't be a contest. Those 4Runners were so underpowered from the factory.

You do realize that the Grand Cherokee you're racing is likely the 3.7 V6? The 300+hp 4.7 V8 would no doubt outrun you, but we're talking about a nearly 5,000 lb. SUV. But if you went back to the 5.2 Grand Cherokee from the same time period as your 4Runner and compared against that, I doubt you'd be much faster. And vs the 5.9, you'd be lost. I like the 4Runner, but you can't call the Jeep a heep.
