Krudas Cubensi is a collective of women, a tribe who believes in womans actions as a central part of world change. From La Havana, Cuba, the group is composed of two sisters, Odaymara and Odalys Cuesta, and Olivia Prendes. The members of Krudas Cubensi work in varied mediums including Hip Hop, visual art, street theater and poetry. The group was founded originally as Agrupación de Creación Alternativa Cubensi in 1996 and then in 1999 they formed the Hip Hop group Krudas Cubensi. Internationally recognized, Krudas Cubensi has performed in Cuba, Puerto Rico, Mexico and in a number of cities in the U.S. They have collaborated many art projects and performed with artists such as Sekou Sundiata (e.p.d), Antibalas Orchestra (2006 Spring Tour), Herencia Reggae Band, Obsesion, Anonimo Consejo, Paisanos, Hermanos de Causa, Paso Firme, Dbi Young y Omegas Kilay, Aya de Leon, Goddessa Alchemy Project, Common, La Bruja, Patty Duke, Rebeldiaz, Climbing Poetree, Bronouwt, Dj P.O.W., Sevilla del Mazo, Buscando el Monte, & many more. Interesting stuff. Too bad th poorly made short about them in the Frameline Film Fest was so annoying.
