I did a similar sweep to this in a fight. But I combined it with a side step first against a charging opponent. He ran in, I side stepped, dropped low and completed the sweep, than I jumped up and landed on his back and choked him out. He was still falling flat on his face when I made the cat like leap onto his back. He broke his nose due to the fall. I'd say a jump would be the best way to avoid this attack, but it's the unexpectedness of the technique that gets them.
One good way to counter this would be to jump and kick your opponent in the face while airborne.

@SomeMartialArtsGuy getting out of the way is always the best way to prevent an attack

@SomeMartialArtsGuy I guess you could predict it, and jump the leg or step back.

How would One counter or prevent this? Is it possible to do when one is standing in a guard on both legs? Such as muay thai?
